Interested in making your own laundry soap instead of purchasing it? Try out these recipes below:

Powdered Laundry Soap
Grate 3 bars of Ivory soap using a cheese grater, and add 3 cups of Borax and 3 cups of Arm & Hammer washing soda.  Mix well and store in an airtight container.  Use 1/4 for a regular washer, or 1 Tbsp. for an HE washer.

Liquid Laundry Soap (non-sudsing)
1 1/2 cups Borax
1 1/2 cups washing soda
1 1/2 cups powder color safe bleach
2 bars Ivory soap

Cut the Ivory soap into 1/8ths, microwave for 2 minutes.  Let cool.  Heat a very large pot of water on stove top, crumble soap, and add crumbled soap to water.  Heat and stir until dissolved.  Mix dry ingredients.  Pour water and soap mixture into 5 gallon bucket, add dry ingredients, and stir until dissolved (a cordless drill with paint mixer attachment works well).  Fill the bucket up the rest of the way with water and wait for it to cool.  It will thicken a little as it cools, stir periodically.  Once cooled, store in ice cream buckets.  Measurements are the same as regular laundry soap.  Thanks goes to Danelle Miller for this recipe!
