My quest to find the cheapest milk

My family drinks a lot of milk.  I mean, a lot.  Like at least a gallon a day.  So if I can find it 50 cents cheaper somewhere, this saves me $3.50 a week, $14 a month, over $150 a year, you get the picture.  I know HyVee has their two day sale starting Thursday and Friday and you can get a half gallon for 99 cents, and that is wonderful, but the limit is two.  Not gonna last long here.

Walgreens in Yankton will also have their milk on sale from time to time, and I cannot for the life of me figure out their random sales on that, for just $2.99.  But you're also paying tax in South Dakota, so it ends up costing you $3.20 per gallon.  Now Norfolk's Walgreen's has Roberts milk, and will frequently go on sale (once again very random) for $3.29 a gallon.  You can get unlimited prints of Roberts 55 cents off one gallon of milk coupons HERE, which will then make that $2.74 when it's on sale.  Most of the Dollar General stores also carry Roberts milk, but the cost is $4.25 a gallon, so $3.70 with your coupon.  I've often times thought of using the $5 off a $25 purchase coupon on all milk. That means I would walk out with 6 gallons of milk (which isn't going to go bad in our fridge because it won't be there for long) for $16.70, making it $2.78 a piece.  I haven't ever done this before though, because I really think it would clear the shelf of all their milk!

And then you have the milk cards.  Freedom Station in Yankton used to have a milk card entitling you to a free gallon of milk after you've purchased so many.  The last time I asked for the milk card, I was given a punch card for so much off gas after you've spent so many dollars, so I'm thinking that deal is no longer available.

People's in Crofton does have a milk card, after you've purchased 12 milks there, you will get your 13th free.  Their Shurfine milk is priced at $3.59, so if you consider that eventually you will get one free, I think that works out to $3.29 a gallon.

Now that you think I'm completely crazy for paying attention to all these milk prices, do you have any locations that you have found that have milk for less?  I have a couple of friends that told me that Aldi in Omaha is the place to go with milk just under $2 there.  NICE!  Perhaps the purchase of a milk cow would work out well for us? ;)

Local Affiliated Deals Week of 12/14/11

I know it's been a while since I've posted on here, but I had such a great shopping trip with coupons at our local Affiliated store today, I just had to share some of the rocking deals that you can get at your hometown store this week!

First off, there's an in ad coupon for Hartington and Crofton stores in their ad: Save $2 when you buy any 3 participating Kraft Foods products: Kraft Singles, Miracle Whip Dressing, and Oscar Mayer Bacon.  These are not limited to one, so you can use more than one of these in ad coupons.  I found peelies on the Miracle Whip dressings for 30 cents off (so 60 cents off if you're at a store that doubles).  There's also a coupon HERE for $1/1 Oscar Mayer bacon.  These will have a Publix logo on them when you print them off, but they are a manufacturer coupon that can be used anywhere.  If you have a couple of different computers, you can print 2 coupons on each computer.  This will end up making each package of bacon just $1.79 after the combined store and manufacturer coupons.  The Miracle Whip final cost was $1.69 with a doubled coupon.  As a side note, if you're printing the Oscar Mayer coupons, there are also $1/1 carving board coupons on that site, and the carving board meats are on sale at Walgreens HyVee (oops) for just $2.50 this week, making them only $1.50 each, a great price for this meat!

Old Orchard Juice is on sale for $2.95, use the 50cents off 1 coupon found HERE to make your final cost $1.69 with a doubled coupon.

Pillsbury Grand Biscuits are 3/$5, print coupons from your Swagbucks account for 30 cents off 2 for a final cost of $1.37 each when coupon is doubled.  And 10 more Swagbucks for each coupon redeemed!

If you have any coupons left in your coupon book from the Roberts Relay for Life fundraiser, Roberts Sour Cream is priced at $1.50 this week.  Use that 60 cents off one coupon to make this just 30 cents with a doubled coupon.

Reynolds wrap is on sale for $3.50, if you printed the $1.25 off one from your Swagbucks coupons, you'll score this for just $2.25.

Farmland Sausage links are $1.79, use the 55 cents off one coupon from the 11/6 Smartsource insert to get these for just 69 cents with a doubled coupon.

Betty Crocker cake mix is $1.09 and frosting is $1.69, use the 75 cents off a cake mix and frosting from the 11/13 General Mills insert to get both of these for a total of $2.03.

Crofton People's online grocery coupons for the week can be found HERE.  My husband loves when I bring home FREE Coca Cola for him!  Get a 2 L of pop for FREE with a $30 grocery purchase this week!

My total coupon savings today were $18.70.  I know I won't be starring on Extreme Couponing with that trip, but I was happy with that and I have a couple grocery bags full of items that my family will actually use ;)

Yankton's Dollar General

Be sure to check out Yankton's Dollar General.  They are going out of business and a lot of what is left in the store is 70% off.  I scored some great deals there the other day when I used coupons combined with their sales.  I sure will miss that store but I'm glad we still have one in Creighton and Hartington.

In absentia

Sorry I've been neglecting this blog for a while.  I was working on a project for work this summer that took a lot of my free time away and I wanted to spend the rest of the time I had with my family.  I'm close to finishing that project up, so look for new posts in the near future!
I haven't been neglecting the couponing in the meantime though, and our total coupon savings this year is now just over $1300, which definitely helps the budget out!
Blessings to you and your family!
